I imagine it would be OK to use for just a few minutes as a desktop background image. But it causes the same problems as I described with the wundermap. Yes, that is what I occassionally use as a desktop image/background. The widget designed to work on any website including Blogger, Wordpress and MySpace. You see weather picture, not just numbers. If so, it is called "Rapid Fire" and it updates every 5 seconds. YoWindow weather widget works like your window - a landscape reflects the weather. Those who do not want to change their usual screensaver can check the weather by opening the notification panel. Maybe I am using Weather Underground's Personal Weather Station (from a nearby location) which is also a flash type object/application. For that reason is why I very rarely use Weather Underground's Wundermap as a desktop image. The icons still work but they work strangely. It causes the desktop icons to behave in a stange manner. It will play havoc with your desktop icons if used as a background or image file.
From my experiences with the "Wundermap" you may not like the minor problems caused by flash applications on your desktop. The wundermap is also a flash application much like YoWindow. I occassionally use the "wundermap" from Weather Underground (in the USA) as a desktop image.

If it is an all around flash problem maybe someone else has already figured out the solution. Know what’s going on outside, get free climate prediction news, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I'm not sure if this is something with YoWindow in particular or all just all flash based screensavers. But when you try "yowindow.scr /p65552" all you get is the screensaver preview image (and size) and the cursor continually shows busy.
